ISSUE NOIR

Theme: The Night / Noir / Liminal Hours
Deadline: 31st August
Send pitches, fragments, or finished work to: SOAP.com

For our fifth print issue, SOAP is stepping into the night.

We're calling this one ISSUE NOIR — a collection of writing, art, and image that explores the aesthetics and politics of darkness, disorientation, and desire. We’re interested in the night as atmosphere, as architecture, as shift pattern and psychic state. The hours where things unravel, blur, and come alive.

We’re looking for submissions that engage with:
  • The intimacy and alienation of nightlife
  • Night work: clubs, warehouses, late shifts, sleeping bodies, ghost cities
  • Surveillance, disappearance, glamour, insomnia
  • Noir tropes undone: detectives, silhouettes, cigarette burns, urban malaise
  • Cruising, crossing, waiting — in back seats, toilets, fire escapes
  • Essays, fiction, flash theory, photography, poetry, rave maps, diaries, text fragments

We’re especially interested in work by queer, trans, disabled, working-class and global majority contributors — voices for whom the night is not always restful or recreational, but where something real flickers into being.

This is a print issue. We’re into texture, risk, and resonance.
Send us your weird, your sharp, your half-lit.
Pitches, drafts, and queries welcome. Final pieces due 31st August
